The Ultimate (not so mini) Mini Album Class

Hi Everyone

I'm very proud to announce my March Class, The Ultimate (not so mini) Mini Album Class.  This is not your average mini; it's 8x8 for one thing; for another, it is not flimsy, this is a solid board book! The quality is outstanding; made with Bazzill board and Authentique paper which is a beautiful heavy weight card stock.  It is so professional looking, no one will believe YOU MADE IT!  I know that sound bazar, but  once you see it in person, you will understand what I mean. The book in on display at the shop, please pop by to see what I mean.  With it's hidden binding, magnet closure, and heavy weight, you will be in awe of the quality! I can't wait to teach you how to make this book.  And, if that technique was not enough...we will also be playing with Modelling Paste to make that beautiful FLUFFY cloud on the front.  I am keeping this class at the amazing price of only $27 because I have taken the basic construction idea from the wonderful Heidi Swapp and have modified it to my tastes.  Class will include the instructions for you to take home to make more books at your leisure as well!

Meet my Designers #2

Hi, my name is Jacqueline Unrau and I am a paper crafter.  I started scrapbooking 10 years ago when my first baby boy was born.   Immediately I was addicted and have not stopped playing with paper since.  Initially I only made 12 x 12 layouts, however, I have grown to love mini albums and card making.  I am a mother to three beautiful children, and my husband and I have been happily married (he is the love of my life) for 18 years.  My design style is vintage with a touch of whimsy.  I enjoy distressing, stamping, inking, spraying, and tearing my paper.  You will not find a project of mine that does not involve lots of layering and fussy cutting!  (I am the queen of fussy cutting.)  There isn’t a project I make that doesn’t involve using an embossing template, a die cut or my Cricut machine.  I am big into making a lot of my own embellishments such as flowers etc.  My favorite manufacturers are Prima, Graphic 45, Websters Pages, October Afternoon, My Little Yellow Bicycle, Pink Paislee, Kaiser Craft, Glitz Designs, Basic Grey and BoBunny…..just to name a few.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach classes at the Inked Stamper in St. Albert, Alberta.

(Dawn here! Hi)  Jacqueline's next class is the GORGEOUS "Sassy and Classy Masculine Cards".   You'll go home with a Tim Holtz TIN of 12 cards/envelopes, 6 decorated with lots stamps, layers and ink! And 6 blank ones(not really blank, the front is pattered, see photo below) for you to make projects with later.  There are so many possibilities with this class; you could hand out the cards 1 by 1; decorate the gorgeous tin and give it away as a gift with chocolates inside..or the decorated cards! Meet my Designers

Hi Everyone
For the next couple of days, I'm going to be posting the Bio's of the awesome ladies who teach in my store.
First one is Nancy; please click on the CLASSES tab above to see Nancy up coming "Time" double Layout Class which is available in pink or turquoise.
Here is her crafting story:

Well what can I say about myself.......I am the mother of 3 kids all aged 6 and under.I was born and raised in St Albert (except for 3 years I was away).  I am technically a Stay at home Mom however I never seem to be home ahhh kids.  I have been scrapbooking and card making for about 7 years, and I have been teaching both for more than half that time. I have always been "crafty" whether it is watercolors, ceramics, quilting, home decor, I love to make things. Let see ......I am a button ADDICT, I have tons of buttons from to many sources to mention.........seriously they fill jars all over my basement.  I am obbsessed with altering things, whether it is distressing a page, stickling Thickers or taking a "body frame" from doll clothes and turning it into a page embellisment, very rarely does anything I get stay as is.  I can't say there is any specific line that I love the most .......though I am partial to Mr. Tim Holtz and to Basic Grey  probably because both of these pushed me out of my "kiddy" comfort zone.  I love Stickles as well as sprays..........sprays (all kinds) are a newer love for me however I am sure I have had Stickles since I started scrapbooking.  Just like the scrapbooking industry I feel  we are all constantly changeing as artists, scrapbooking is not just paper and photos anymore, I know my tastes have both expanded and refined over the years.

 

When it comes down to it  I strongly believe that anyone can do this not matter what your artistic ability, trust me I have seen it all. We don't all start out making perfect pages.........if you look at my beginner stuff you would be shocked. I only show it because it has baby photos in it, and to show that you to can do this.  My best advice to anyone intreseted ...take classes and get to know you local scrapbook store. This way you will meet people like yourself just starting out as well as experianced scrappers. I still take classes to learn new techniques or to get out of a creative funk, and most scrappers are always willing to share advice, products , or give you a demonstration.   I am always here for anyone who needs help, I don't pretend to know it all but I will help you however I can even if its just to point you into the direction of someone more knowledgable on the specific subject than me.  If I have posted something at the shop or online and you would like to know about how  it was done feel free to ask , I love what I do and I love to share what I do with others.  Also if there is anything your intreseted in my teaching please let me know I will do my best to incorporate  it in a future class ........and if I am not able  to Dawn is always up to a challenge.  For those who do attend my classes or purchase my kits I always include my email address  with the instruction sheet incase you have questions, if your not email friendly Dawn knows how to find me (if i am not already in the store). February Mommy and ME

 

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Hope your all having a fabulous day!  Every 3rd Saturday of the month is MOMMY AND ME! (or any grown up).  Here is this months project. Your child will go home with a completed frame and LOTS of left over paper to make another project with! All for only $20.  Your child will be able to let his/hers creativity shine by custom choosing what embellishments they would like to cut out of the paper! You will also be going home with a full sheet of Monthly Bingo cards so you can change the frame up each month! Cute eh?

All paper from this project was made with Simple Stories Year-o-Graphy Line; I LOVE this line! I find it SO versatile!

Kaiser Craft Army Page

 

Hi Everyone!

Not sure where you live, but here in the Edmonton, Alberta region we've been having a NASTY, cold spell this week! -40C with wind chills all week. So it's been a wee bit chilly here to say the least! The shop has been pretty quite as a result of everyone hibernating! LOL! I SO get it..I actually snuck away early yesterday to hibernate in front of my fire at home cause the store is so cold! Shhh don't tell on me ok!

Anyways...here is a layout I did the other day; I found a sketch on pinterest to help my cold, slow brain get it's Mojo flowing and this is what I came up with.  (I always try to upload large picture files, so if you click the layout, it should expand so you can see the details).  I had a lot of fun with this page which I used Kaiser "On the Move" pattern paper, I got to add some nice messy details with Adirondack Paint Dauber in Juniper, Glimmer Glaze in the new Nori color which I LOVE! My favorite technique this week is SPLATTERING Glimmer Glaze on EVERYTHING!  And of  course Distress Inks, Vintage Photo.  A layout just seems naked to me with out some form of ink on it! I also used Adirondack Color Wash Sprays which are AMAZING! The color is so deep and vibrant! I used them to color up Tim Holtz Grunge board crowns, which I then covered with Goosebumps spray to add texture; I turned them on their sides though to make them like bomb explosions.  Did you notice the medal I made with Teresa Collins Metal Stars, I love it! I used a Tim Holtz jump ring to run some ribbon through it to make my army medal.

I've got lots of fabulous NEW lines in right now as well, plus great SALES going on to make room for all the new releases coming out!!

Mommy and Me Saturday January 28

 

Hi ya'

I'd love to have you and your kids register in my Mommy and Me class, Saturday Jan 28, 11-12pm.  You don't have to be a Mommy, any adult supervision is great! Daddy's, Grandma's, Auntie's your all welcome to come!  In this months class the kids will be making this cute canvas with a wee mini album attached! It can be hung up, or stand on it's own.  The children will be painting this blank white canvas with RED so please dress them appropriately! If possible please bring a wallet size photo or 2: I used one.  And also I you have a 1/2" flat paint brush that will help speed things along, (if you don't, you can wait to use one of the class ones, I'll have a few to circulate).

Each child will be going home with Echo Park's 12x12 sticker Sheet from the Yours Truly Collection as well. We will use a few stickers on the canvas, and the rest is theirs to take home.

Price is $20 first child, $17 for additional siblings
