Hybrid page....

Hi Eveyone

I had a Heidi Swapp Memory File Class a few weeks ago, and in it, we made a cool element  of stamping on a sheet of vellum.  I demo'd a page for the class, (center of the page below), and I just loved how it turned out and knew I had to make something with it. This is what I made.  I started off with my stamped vellum page and picked out a glittered black sheet of 12x12 cardstock to be my background and just went from there.  So I'm calling this my "hybrid page"...it's not art journaling cause it's not in a journal...but it doesn't have a picture on it...so it's not really a scrapbook page...so, it's my HYBRID PAGE!

Unfinished Page: Sometimes I THINK I'd done, take a picture of it to post it, then look at and realize it's not really "there" yet.  The main image is stamped onto Vellum with Archival Inks, and  Stampotique, Dylusions and Tim Holtz stamps. I used a water brush and Perfect Pearls Powder in Forever Red and glam up is wings.

Ok, now I'm done! Added some more collage layers from an old book and added some Paper Tape from 7 Gypsies. Then I added more texture with wash of  Black Gesso. There is a lot of texture on this page that is hard to pick up with a camera.

This skull is from one of Tim Holtz's new stamp sets, Halloween Blue Prints (which is soon to become one of my fav's).  I inked him up with Distress Inks, Bronze Adirondack paint, Glossy Accent in the eyes and finished off with Black Gesso. The wings are from one of my favourite Tim's sets too (Royal Script), and I cut them out with my Eclips  and Tim's Stamp 2 Cut cartridge. I stamped them with Red Archival and used the same distressing recipe I used on the skull.

The light bulb is from the NEW Prima range of embellishments and I LOVE them!!!! I grunged it up a bit with black gesso and a Tim Holtz metal Chain tassel.

Light Modelling Paste,  I coloured up with Adirondack Color wash spray first then layered it on through a Crafters Workshop brick stencil. Then I added more texture to it by black washing over it.

I used Claudine Hellmuth  Muliti Medium to attach down some tulle and some Grunge board numbers ( that I inked up and coved with Glossy Accents), then I painted them with Adirondack Bronze Paint,  Black Gesso and Dylusions Black Spray.

Hope you like it! I had a lot of fun making it....I MAY add a picture of my boys to it in the future...not sure yet.

Hi Again

Here are the rest of my tags that I made on my deck enjoying the last few days of summer before the kids head back to school. Everything again was made with with supplies I had in my tool boxes, I just grabbed them before I left the shop. My one tool box is my "standard" and always packed with my favourite standard tools (including my Gelly Roll and Heidi Swapp Neon Pens), and then I have a Tim Holtz Cargo Box that I use to bring my ink pads, distress tools and a few stamp in.  Luckily I had some Liquid Pearls, Claudine Hellmuth Blank Canvas Paint and some Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals and sprays in there! And I always have Glossy Accents and Claudine Helllmuth Multi Medium in my kit, not only are they both AMAZING glues, they both are amazing embellishments! I mix my Medium with Liquid Pearls to make a gorgeous glaze, I also used it to collage my sassy expressions

I had a lot of fun making these tags, not sure if I can pick a favourite, but if you MADE me, I think it would be the one on the top right. I believe the stamp is called Carol...I call her Creepy Mommy. I painted her up with layers of Lindy's Magicals and highlighted her with Gelly Rolls and Neon Pens. All the tags are painted with the Magicals, so they are all luminescent and gorgeous. The camera doesn't pick it up....well it does if I put the flash on, but then you can't see anything else! Stampotique Originals Tags

Hi All! 

The weather has been fabulous the last couple of days here which usually means I'm outside with the kids; but I'm missing crafting! I don't get to do it as much in the summer cause the kids are off school. And I know I own the store...but I have to run it which takes a lot of time, so no, I don't get to craft every day!  So this weekend I brought home my Tool Box and my Cargo Case full of my Distress and Archival Ink Pads and made a bunch of tags sitting on my deck. My folks were over and they sat on the deck with me while I crafted and BBQed, and the twins played in the yard. It was a great day. 

I had very limited supplies, literally what ever was in my tool boxes! Lucky I have a pretty sweet tool box..it's literally a tool box my husband bought for me at Home Depot! Anyhoo...all tags are made with stamps from Stampotique Originals! I wish I brought home more stamps from my Tim's and Dylusions, but like I said, I made do, and I'm very happy with the results.  They were all made with various Distress Ink Pads and Black Archival Ink (my absolute FAV to stamp with!) They all also have Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals and Sprays on them too. And of course various GellyRoll Pens (forgot my white though..gasp! So I used a cruddy one I had and it sucked!) and Heidi Swapp Neon Gel Pens; Glossy Accents, Liquid Pearls, and Claudine Hellmuth Paint also made an appearance.  All the ribbon is Seam Binding that I sell in the shop for 25cent/foot and it's fabulous! Inks up beautifully!

Price includes full large package of Crayola's for you kiddo to choose from, and to take the left overs home. Please dress your kids in paint clothes. The only thing you will need to bring is a paint brush (foam one will work great, or 3/4-1' brush) and a wallet size photo if you choose.

FYI I'm looking for a black frame to put this in so you child can display their gorgeous canvas.

My Art Journal

Hi Everyone

Here is another glimpse in my personal Art Journal.  This is a book just for ME! I find it very liberating to not be making something that most likely will become a display in my store. When I sit down to create..aka play, I don't have any idea WHAT I'm going to come up with, I just let it develop all on it's own.

If you are interested in learning Mixed Media Techniques that can be used in ALL paper crafting, not just journaling...Scrapbooking, Cards and Home Decor too! The first Tuesday of every month I teach a different Mixed Media Class PACKED full of techniques, last month I taught the ladies how to use their products for other purposes, not just the one they bought it for!   You must have the FIRST class to take the additional though. I've re-run it twice now, if you are interested in starting Mixed Media please call me at the shop (780) 458-2422 or email/FB and let me know you are interested. I can set up another first class for you.  Each class you will go home with a 2 completed- 6x12" pages to attach to your mini book each month; and 2- just inked pages for you to take home and practice with, plus a Product Gift each month for you to use each month in class and take home.

Some projects I've been upto

Made with Tim Holtz NEW summer inks....they are bright and vibrant!! I used them VERY toned down here so my Dylusions  stamp would shine though. I love how this turned out! I also used a Crafters Workshop Stencil to make those gorgeous textured raindrops with gesso.

These 2 pics were from my "Multi Media 2" Class. It was a blast! I sensory overloaded the ladies with loads of techniques by getting them to "look" at their supplies with different eyes and use them for other purposes.

Who says tags are to small for pictures...NOT ME! I love how this tag turned out!
