Fun with Cork and Fun Flowers Die

HI Everyone
Well here is my last layout that I made scrapping the other day with my Sis and Shannon.  This is my sister gorgeous son Brayden; and this is my last of my Lake layouts I had to do.  The WHOLE family went camping together last year, and I took my camera and got great shots off all the cousins and did a Digital Scrapbook for my family for Christmas this year and I also did traditional layouts for me.  Bray was my last one I had to do.  And I LOVE how it turned out, nice and simple, but oh so cute! Again, I used the cork sheet on this LO, I cut them with the Big shot and the awesome new Fun Flowers L Die from the Mini...which I LOVE!  I almost did not buy it, I AM so glad I did, it's my "go to" embellishment maker! I've made paper flowers, fabric flowers and now cork flowers with it.  This die ROCKS! I also used the new Fabric Brads and Sticky back Rhinestone Jewels to decorated my flowers and my XL Trim Die Scallop. The background square DSP is from Play Date.
Today's LO was made with Twisted Sketches #87 sketch and the twist was comfort.  I think my raccoons on my DSP cover the comfort twist, they are just chilled and relaxin' floating in the water.

It's official: I am a Hockey Mom! UDI 6

Hi Everyone
Well it is official; I am a Hockey Mom!  I registered the boys in hockey Wednesday and bought all the equipment that night and they had their first week end of hockey on Sat/Sun! Talk about throwing them in the deep end; it was their first time on skates as well! LOL! I must say I am a proud Momma though!  Bless my twins hearts, they fell down 100 time, and got up 101 with a smile on their faces every single time! Not once did they get discouraged or upset that they couldn't do it!  They love every min on the ice, even though the spend most of the time on their bum..or knees..or back! LOL!
Any hoo...so for today's UDI Color Challenge, I decided to do a scrapbook page.  Now I have to admit, with some of these challenges I've been having some difficulty, some of the colors have just taken me out of my comfort zone; and when I looked at today's colors, my first reaction was "oh no!"  So I decide to do a scrapbook page and threw in a sheet of DSP from the Newsprint collection that just happens to be neutral so it follows the rules.  I found this a lot easier for me!  Every time I see Rose Red, I struggle..sorry, it is just SO NOT me!  But I found a way to work it into my layout and I am very happy with how it turned out.  I've actually combine 2 Challenges on this LO; I used the sketch from Twisted Sketches #70 with the twist being hole.  So for my hole, I punched in 3 jumbo eyelets.

Hi  Everyone
OK, I am feeling the need to redeem myself...since I have been sick, I've kinda lost my MOJO and I feel the need to prove to myself, and YOU, that I am good at crafting!  So luckily for me, today is Twisted Sketches #70, with the twist being "pin"; scrapbooking, my FAV!  I really spent a lot of time putting this LO together, and I am very please with the results. There are a lot of little details on here if you look closely, all the buttons are threaded with Linen Thread. I think it's the small details that make the difference.  The little leaves at the top were cut out with the Leaves #2 Die from Cajun Craze and More Mustard card stock; I then took my bone folder and grooved in the leave veins, then I sponged Cajun Craze to add some depth.  Then I curled them with my bone folder, and pushed through some pearl ended pins. It's hard to see the details in the picture, sorry.

How about my flower?? Do you like it! You guys know how much I love making my own flowers...so in my true style, I made this one too!  With my favorite Die, Circle #2!  I came across this great tutorial on the web for making sunflowers but I didnt' have all the supplies that they used, so I worked with what I had and made this flower instead.  I thought you would like a tutorial on it.

Step 1: Cut out your Polyester fabric with your Big Shot and Circle #2 Die.  You will need 4 large, 3 Medium, 3 Small, 2  XS.

Step #2. Cut into your circles, to make petals. Just straight cuts all the way around the circles.

Step #3. Take a candle; I used a tea light; and singe the end of each petal.  Don't stick it in the flame, just very close, and it is quick, so be careful not to set it on fire. After all the circles are done; stagger them on top of each other.  I used my Crop a Dile and punch a hole and added a brad.

Twisted Cards 27: Love

Hi Everyone
Well first off I want to apologize to Anam for handing in my card so late today for Twisted Sketches #27...which happens to be my last card for the DT of Twisted Sketches!  I'm sad to say good-bye, but I am pressed for time, so it was time!  I'll still be staying on for the DT Twisted Sketches Scrapbook though.
So on to today's card; today's Twist is LOVE; I think my greeting "welcome Christmas into your heart" sums that up pretty well!  This was literally a 5 min card today...as I was late, I needed to make something crazy quick!  I do like how it turned out though, clean and simple.  Just wish I snailed the ribbon down a bit before I took the picture! Opps!  If click on the picture to make it larger, you'll notice there is faux stiching detail around the Whisper White; this card base is pre-made from the Hostess Level 3 kit!  Did you notice the glitter detail as well?? This is the new Glass Glitter from the Holiday Mini; wow! I LOVE this stuff!!!

Vintage Christmas: Twisted Sketches #68

Hi Everyone
Well I just had such a good time making my LO for today's Twisted Sketches #68; today's twist is Vintage.  I went head first down vintage road; the pictures are of me at Christmas in 1976 with my brother and sister; she is giggling in the picture cause she has two different slippers on!  I don't think I'm quite old enough to be called vintage yet! LOL! But it's not a new picture of me...so vintage it is!  Then the tag on it is ACTUALLY vintage!  I bought it last year at the Antique show; I actually I bought a few vintage postcards, tags and have been hording them until the perfect LO comes along!  Today's LO meet the perfect criteria so my Santa tag was used!  In small print on the tag is says "National School Studio's" so I'm assuming this went out with their school pictures or something.  Then for my paper and stamps I choose from SU! great vintage theme products this year! Contempo Christmas is the stamp set that I made all those cute decorations from and stamped the gorgeous boarder of sparkly trees with. My patterned paper is Love Letter which has a total vintage feel about it as well! I love this vintage trend right now!  I finished off my LO with placing Basic Pearls (sticky backed half pearls) on the decoration and using MME chipboard for the title and those little cardinals.  Actually, once I saw the picture of the LO, I decided it needed one more large cardinal next to "merry", but as you can tell I'm having a bad picture day! So I didn't retake.  Sorry about all the shadows!

Twisted Sketches #66 meets Nursery Suite Specialty DSP

Hi Everyone
I had SO much fun with this Twisted Sketches #66 this week! Awesome LO, I'm a fan of "white space" plus the twist this week is FABRIC!!!! I've been itching to play with the new paper Nursery Suite (117165) which in all honesty is not really the paper I would normally choose..no skulls any where, no vintage, not even earthy tones!  As the name indicates, it's a baby set? HUH? Well I'm here to show you there is so much more you can do with this set that make baby pages or card! Some of the sheets do have a nursery pattern on them, BUT only on one side! So this DSP is totally awesome for anyone!  Seriously, look at this cool paper! I love it's shape and lovely detail! The circle was cut out of the same package as well!  With the exception of the Thickers and the Sweet tag (MME) the rest is SU!  Yes, even that fabric I made that awesome flower with is SU!, the fabric is called Candy Cane (121715) but as you can see, you can use it any time; it is not a "Christmasy" print. You get 3 fabric patterns each a  fat quarter section (28x18"). You can make ALLOT of flowers with that! LOL!  And those HUGE buttons are too called Candy Cane (121718), to match the fabric perfectly! Aren't they just cute?
I stamped the White C/S with the Damask stamp  & Blushing Bride Ink (119786) from set Friends 24-7 (113218); this has got to be one of  my all time favorite stamps..if you check out my blog often, you know that! Then I ran a strip of Blushing Bride C/S through the Paper Crimper (101618); this is a tool I have been pulling out more lately.  It just seems to go with a lot more styles this season.  I finished the embellishments off with a pretty bow made from the Whisper White Organza Ribbon (114319).
Pretty, right?  It's nice to scrapbook with my sister's girls! As you know I have twin boys...so not so girly are my books! So I borrow girls to scrap!
PS! If any of you checked out my card on Saturday for Twisted Sketches, you'll  may have noticed my card looked completely different form everyone elses...well that would be because I made it with the wrong sketch! OOPS! Right Twist however...wrong sketch! LOL!  I've had a few request on my blog and a few emailed to me asking to put up a little tutorial on how I made the clear flowers on that card; I will make it tomorrow and post it!
Thanks for stopping by today

Twisted Sketches Card #23

Hi Everyone
Today's card was made with Twisted Sketches #23 Sketch; with this weeks twist being "CLEAR".  As soon as I saw the twist, I know exactly what I was going to make! Can you see my Clear Flowers?? I made these by cutting out Medium Window Sheets (114323, 2/5.95), with 1 /14" Circle Punch (119861) & the Fancy Flower Punch (118073).  The small ones are made with four circles, stagger layers, topped with 3/4" circle punch out of So Saffron and held together with a Crystal Fire Brad.  The Large ones are made with 2 flowers and 1 circle covered with So Saffron and a brad as well.  THEN I just melted them with my heat tool! HOW cool is that! I love this look! It adds such a fabulous texture to your project!  Make sure you click on the picture to make it larger so you can see the details.
If you would like a tutorial on the flowers, please just leave me a comment asking for it! I will post one next week, you just need to ask!
Supplies & Direction All SU!
So Saffron Textured  C/S12x12 ; cut into 6 x 12, fold in half;  Nursery Suite Specialty DSP cut into 5 3/4" square, Chocolate Chip C/S, cut with Big Shot (113439) and  Scallop  Circle #2 Die(113469); cut and layer, bottom scallop, use dimensionals to raise it.  Make flowers as described above. Attach down with glue dots.  Stamp your greeting onto Whisper White C/S 1 x 4 1/4"with Chocolate Chip Ink. I used the stamp set Curly Cute (120510, for Clear). With scissors, triangle snip the end to make it look like a banner. Use a dauber and Chocolate chip ink to distress the edges softly.  Curly edges with your bone folder; just like you would ribbon at Christmas! Use your edge of your bone folder and gently pull. Attach down with dimensionals. Tie a small Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon (109067) and attach down with a glue dot.  Lastly add a strip of DSP 1 1/2 x 6" to the inside of your card along the bottom.

Twisted Sketches #64: Group Sign Ups!

Hi Everyone
Here is my take on today's Twisted Sketches Scrapping Sketch #64 with today's twist be "tree".  As you can see I used my photo for my "twist" as I'm zip lining through the rain forests of Barbados! So much fun!!!
I made my journal tag with the awesome stamp from the Notable Ornate stamp set and just cut it out; it only took a min and I just love the detail!  After I cut it out I used the Distressing essentials kit and roughed it up by sanding it and ink distressing it to make it look old.  It's hard to see in the picture, but it looks great IRL. If you click on the LO it will make it larger so you can see the details.
