More Stencil love

Hi All
I am LOVING this face stencil by The Crafters Workshop (TWC) SO much! I can't stop playing with it! Todays layout was inspired by Donna Downey's Art Journal. She took white paint and layered it on thick with her finger and then swirled in coloured paint the same way. I used Claudine Hellmuth paints and DecoArt Metallic paint.   I forgot to gesso my page first so it was a bit tough, lol! I used a sheet of paper from my FAVOURITE Prima Pad: Ledger Pad! This is a FABULOUS stack of paper! I use it for everything lately!!!  It's not as thick as manilla, but Prima makes the thickest pattern paper I've seen and it take a lot of abuse, so for me, it's TOP NOTCH!   I stencilled on the girl the same way I did on yesterdays project: Blending Tool with foam and Archival Jet Black Ink; I did the same with the Feather stencil except I used Purple Brilliance ink and Green Archival.  I finished it off with Prima washi around the edges and stencilled ALOHA with a alhapa stencil and Prima Fluid Chalk ink in black.

Evolution of Painted Girl with The Crafters Workshop Stencil

Hi All!
Thought I would give you an elevation of my painted girl with The Crafters Workshop Face Stencil! SO easy! Should of posted this first, but I was too excited to share her with you...I didn't think about it! If you haven't already, make sure you check out yesterdays post to see what supplies I used.

This is on Ranger Manilla 12x12: Not sure why it looks white, it's not.  This is my FAVOURITE paper to work with!

I don't know enough about painting to explain it to you, so what I will say is experiment. My tip, I tinted two shade of brown with a drop of red to make it more realistic looking, then I used the same red on her cheeks and lips so I knew it would match. (check out yesterdays post for pictures of what products I used)

Her Feathers are with another NEW The Crafters Workshop Stencil: I painted first with Metallic Paint, then went over with Prima Black Chalk ink.  As for the embellishment, I just grabbed what was closest to me and started arranging. I added some of the same paints I used on the girl to tie them together. As you can see, in the top picture, I didn't find my Die Cut Tim Holtz Wings yet.

Final step was to tie it all together by anchoring it to the background. I used Prima Fluid Chalk ink, to ink up whole background, those little self inked tools are wonderful for covering large surfaces and to get into small areas! I made sure to ink up her as well so she's not just floating on top.  Next I used my background stamps to add texture and interest, again, stamping on her too.  The Arrows are with another NEW TCW stencil and a WHITE sharpie! Lastly I highlighted with the white sharpie and shaded a bit with the Priam Fluid  Chalk ink in black.  I used Gel Medium to glue all my embellishments down and DONE!

Art to make you Smile

Hi All
Wanted to share with you some art I made yesterday. I was having such a bad day, but I decided to sit down and play with no idea what I was going to make. This is what I came up with! I''m so happy with it! Using The Crafters Workshop new stencils made making this girl so much easier; I still had to blend the paint and paint her, so I still felt "artsy", but using that stencil for her face too the pressure off!  I choose not to use the hair on the stencil, but instead drew my own.
For her hair piece I used a bunch of embellishments on my desk! Lots of Prima and Tim Holtz. I LOVE her earring the best, it's a Prima Lantern!!! I painted the embellishments with the same paints I used on the backgrounds. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the  turquoise and copper colours are METALLIC paint by Deco Art: Peacock Pearl and Copper, so my girl has glimmerto her too! Each bottle is only $2.50 and it totally packs a punch!
Best way to add texture without bulk to your layouts is with stamps and ink! Completely changes the look of your project. I took a picture of the stamps I used on this page, (forgot my Christy Tomlinson Doilies!).  These stamps are my GO TO background stamps, I used them ALL the time!!! Well worth the investment!!!
All supplies available at The Inked Stamper! I used some Golden Paints to mix with my Claudine Hellmuth, which are available by custom order.
