Bring on the Superheroes

Hi Everyone
I'm still working on my big announcement so I'm still very busy, hence the lack of posts! Don't give up on me though, I promise it will be worth the wait!
Today's post is my Mommy Labour of Love; yesterday I made the invites for the boys 7th Birthday party.  They were a lot of work, but I'm so proud of them..and the boys love them, which is what matters most!
The inside of the boy invites have a photo of Batman and Superman which I printed off at London Drugs, and the girl invites have a photo of Wonder Women.  I found both on Google Image, just click large file so you find a suitable picture to get printed.  The outsides are decorated with actual comics; the boys and I spent 1 hour yesterday morning combing through comics at Warp to find appropriate comics to decorate their cards.  Let me tell you, it was harder then it sounds, comics are made for adults! Lot's of violence in them!  Each card is covered with a belly band with an awesome POW Zap or Bif tag! I had to hand cut all those, took me ages! And also my printer was running out of black in so I had to go over all the black parts with a sharpie..again took a long time!  I found those on HERE.  There are some GREAT ideas on the internet for Superhero parties, I'm taking bits and pieces from them, plus a dash of US, to make the boys party AWESOME!
Hope you guys love them as much as we do...It makes me feel like a fab Momma to be doing something that is just for THEM! Yes, it would have been quicker and much much cheaper to buy invites or make digital ones, but I wanted to do something that was 100% handmade from Momma just for them!  After all, as a Momma of twins only, we only get to celebrate each birthday once...I will never again get to throw a 7th birthday party again!  That's one of the hard parts of twins.

Spring will alway come, no matter how long the winter....I HOPE!

Hi Everyone
Well I'm posting a "naked" Layout today because as you can see it is a spring theme design, and as my back yard is covered in at least 3 1/2 feet of snow still....and YES that has melted, it used to be 4 1/2 feet...I have NO spring pictures to add to it yet!  I just temporarily added the one of my husband and boys to the left side one so you could see the robin better.  If you click on the picture it will make it larger to see all the little details; the pastel chalk painted robins, eggs, Smootch painted eggs, robins, flowers, the banners.  The layouts are simple designs because the paper is so pretty; I just wanted to accent it with a lot of little details. I love how the flower turned out; it's only 2 flowers plus a center, but look how think and full it looks!

Sew Sweet and Simple 5 min Card

Hi Everyone
Well it does not get any easier then this for a card! This is the 4x4" Pendant Note card; it is already die cut with that cute shape in the middle; you just need to pop out the card stock and attach a DSP to the back side..or fabric...or leave it as a peek a boo card.  SO simple and tons of possibilities.  I used the SU! Sweet Stitches range again; stamp and dsp; the little wee tag is from the same sheet I talked about a few posts ago.  I just cut t out and corner rounded it.  Now that I see it in the picture, I should have ink distressed the edges in Chocolate Chip, I'll have to do that before I give this away.

Scottie Dogs..does it get any cuter?

Hi Everyone
This is one of my favorite cards I've made; I know the layout is beyond simple and not original, but I still love it! I have a thing for Scottie dog silhouettes, so clearly I love this.  The polka dots are Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink; I cut the collars from the melon mambo and added a Rhinestone to bling it up!

Sweet Stitches Card

Hi Everyone
Sorry I've been MIA; I will be for awhile..BUT it will be worth it!!  I'm working on something HUGE that I'm just not ready to announce yet. But SOON! ;)
Today's card was made with the SU! Sweet Stitches range; DSP, fabric and buttons.  No stampin' involved..except on the inside.  The cute tag was cut from a 12 x 12 sheet that comes in the DSP package, it's a full sheet of tags, you just need to cut them out.  They are sooo cute!  And the flower is HAND STITCHED, yes I pulled out a needle and thread and sewed a lollipop flower and sewed on the button too!

Men men men manly men men

Hi Everyone
Sorry it's grey and gloomy here today in the Edmonton, the tundra of Canada..so my pic it kinda dark even after fixing it on my mac!  Anyhoo...I cased this card from Make a Card Monday; I LOVE her style! Very re-creatable and I find she has a great vintage vibe to her designs which I totally dig!  As soon as I saw this card, I went right down to my studio to make it.  It's so simply and clean and so very manly!  I used retired SU! patterned paper as it was the manliest I had; my base is Chocolate Chip and I used the Brights Glimmer Brads (pumpkin pie) to jazz it up.  To make the flames, I used the wing from Bird XL punch in Daffodil Delight. Perfect eh? I love finding other uses for the punches.
Any of you have any good tips for using punches to make other shapes?? Leave a link in the comment section for everyone to check out.

Rockin' Rolla

Hi Everyone
Ok I know my spelling sucks, but I promise this was on purpose! Do you remember the movie Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? Well Wyld Stallyns is their band name! Don't know why, but these pictures just screamed B and T to me! LOL!  And lucky for me, my sister watched the movie the night before and I told her I was doing a LO and needed to google a B and T quote, she said she had the PERFECT title for these pics! And it IS perfect! The pics we're taken on my iphone after the boys got their hair cut in January and the girl sprayed their hair red..I bought the spray as it made them SO happy!  Tristan kinda looks like  a weird zombie in the picture, I think he was moving and it does not really look like him! It's an ODD picture of him but it was just to perfect with him air guitaring and Ethan playing drums that I had to use it.
Hope you like it and Thank for stopping by

Do Over!

Hi Everyone
Here is my Do Over page from earlier this week; you can view the original HERE.  All the squares are glittered paper and are popped up off the page.  If you click on the picture it will enlarge them so you can see all the details I added; sweet journaling, tags, their names written around the hearts, ink highlighting and a better title.  I still made sure the focus was all on the photos, but I just jazzed it up a bit.  Those pictures are just so amazing of my boys that they deserved a better layout to go with them.
Have a fab week end and thanks for stopping by,

It's hip to be square

Hi Everyone
Here is the double layout I made the other night with the Scrapalicious girls..shout out to Kari for the square chip board! Sweet idea, THANKS!  In real life, this layout looks awesome..something is lost in the picture of it..not sure if it's the color or the dimension? There is lots of depth on this page with the chipboard arrow, glitter brads, popped up squares and tag.  It looks so flat in the picture, which does it NO justice.
The journalling reads:
You two are DORKS! You are ORIGINALS, you march to the beat of your own drum, and you OWN "it's hip to be square"! This makes you two so COOL to me!
Like all of you Momma's out there..I really love my kids..dork and all! ;)
FYI: I've finished re-vamping my double layout from earlier this week, I'll post it tomorrow. I LOVE how it turned out! See you tomorrow

Create a Cupcake Sweet Case

Hi Everyone
Had a late night scrapping with the Scrapalicious Gals...made another double layout, but it needs some tweaking before posting.  I want to tweak yesterdays double LO as well...I like it, but it NEEDS something..so I'll try to tweak it as well.
Today's project is one of the cards from my Martini Monday Class (first Monday of every month); this months class was based around Cupcakes and Glitter Brads.  Every Class you go home with 6 cards/envelopes and a product! So this class the ladies went home with a package of Bright Glimmer Brads.  This card was CASED from Mary Brown on SU! Stampin' Connection; a Demo only web site.  The size is 3 1/4" x 6 1/2"; so just cut a 6 1/2" square and score at 3 1/4".  It will fit in the SU! Open End Envelope.
FYI Next Class will be base on Coffee Cards! Sign up Today, this is a crazy fun class and YES it does include a yummy MARTINI! Stampin' and Martini's! Can you think of a better way to start off the month??

Sweet Double Layout

Hi Everyone
So here is another one of my layouts from Saturday Fundraiser Crop.  I took these gorgeous pics of my boys in the fall and they turned out so great that I blew them up to 6x8"; I wanted them to be the 100% focus on the page.  I know as scrapbookers we get so caught up in the artistry and the originality of our pages; but we have to remember it is ALWAYS about the photo!  I still need to journal on them..and I must admit I'm not crazy happy with that generic title, BUT my brown thicker collection was limited in letters so the first 3 title I picked out, I didn't have enough letters! ARG! I was going to add another title over top and some lyrics, but when I told that to a friend, she said leave it...it will take the focus off the boys, so I'm going to take her advise as that is the reason why I enlarged the photos!

An awesome title can make the page

Hi Everyone
I had a great week end; my friends Kari and Annette came over to crop at my Fundraiser crop and we had a blast.  I actually got 4 layouts done..which is a ton for me when people are around! LOL! Anyhoo, this was my first one, and I need to thank the girls for it! I wanted something fun to go with this page cause the pictures are of me and Pia (my awesome friend Alana's daughter) goofing around with the photobooth on my Mac; and that cute toast and toaster paper boarder just screamed FUN...so I asked the girls for help and Annette suggested something to do with sandwiches, and BOOM this popped in my head!  "We go together like PB & J".  How fun is that! You can't notice it in the picture but I actually covered the little toasts with glassy glaze to make it pop up to match the hearts on the paper that are glossy and puffy..it's looks so cute!
Have an AWESOME Monday

Lets face it...it's the SHOES not my Layout that they fell in love with! LOL!

My Hockey Boys and the Reason WHY I Scrapbook

Hi Everyone
I went scrapbooking to my friends yesterday, and had a great time. Of course my mouth was faster then my hands so I only got one layout done! That is typical ME! So easily distracted! But I must say, I'm very happy with how it turned out; I based it off one of the sketches on Sketches 2 Scrapbook Aps on my iPhone.  I love to stamp on Glossy Card Stock: the White Skull tag was made with the corner rounder and Glossy Card Stock stamped with Basic Black; it is just SO vibrant!
Some Momma Pride:
This year was the twins FIRST hockey season.  Their first practice was their FIRST time on skates! LOL! Talk about throwing them in the deep end!  But I could NOT be ANY prouder of my boys! They fell at least 100 times, but they SMILED the whole time and got up 101! Not once did they give up, get frustrated.  At the end of that first practice while we were taking their kit off, Tristan said to me " Mom, we kinda sucked at first, but now we are AWESOME!" LOL! I totally had a tear in my eye! You can teach someone to skate..play hockey.. but you CAN NOT teach HEART!
My Journaling on my Page
"You can't teach heart, you either have it or your don't.  You two have it in TRUMPS! Reach for the Starts my boys!"

I just wanted to point out, THIS is exactly WHY I scrapbook; I don't want to forget all these feelings,  and I want my boys to be able to read and see their childhood and to remember what is forgotten over time.

Pop Can Accessories

Hi Everyone
While I was blog hopping on the week end I came across this great idea on Dawn Griffith's blog to make  a pin out of a pop can! SO easy to do..and you can use any Die you want! I choose to use the same on as she did cause I thought they were just cute and a great size; I just curled my edges up with my bone folder before I attached the 3 layers together.    My Club Girls made these as well and actually attached them to the top of their book marks.  I thought they would make a great gift; a book mark and a pretty pin!
A little note: the cans are sharp when you cut them; BUT are NOT sharp once they run through the Big Shot Dies! You could make ANY accessory you wanted and add it to any project!  We don't drink a lot of pop in our house, so I only had enough empty cans to cover my Club Girls projects and 1 for me... as soon as I get some more cans I'm going to try some other dies out.  I think a tin butterfly would look pretty darn cute!
